Always at My Side
Little did I know that day, God was
going to call your name
In life I loved you dearly, in death I do the same
It broke my heart to lose you, you did not go alone
For part of me went with you, the day God called you home
You left me peaceful memories, your love is still my
guide
And though I can not see you, you are always at my side

A Prayer for
Animals
Hear our humble prayer, O God,
for our friends, the animals.
Especially for animals who
are suffering, for any that are lost or
deserted or frightened
or hungry; for all that must be put to
death. We
entreat for them all Thy mercy and pity, and for
those who deal with them we ask a heart of compassion and
gentle hands and
kindly words. Make us, ourselves, to be true
friends to
animals and so to share the blessings of the merciful.

If tears could build a stairway
And memories a lane
I'd walk right up to Heaven
And bring you home again!

Words of
Wisdom
We make a living from what
we get
We make a life from what we give
What we have done for ourselves, dies with us
What we have done for others and the world is immortal

A Dog's Wish
Treat me
kindly, my beloved master, for no heart in the world
is more
grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.
Do not
break my spirit with a stick, for though I lick your
hand
between the blows, your patience and understanding will
more
quickly teach me the things you would have me do.
Speak to
me often, for your voice is the world's sweetest
music, as you
must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when
your footsteps
fall upon my waiting ear.
When it
is cold and wet, please take me inside, for I am now a
domesticated animal, no longer used to bitter elements.
And I
ask to greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your
feet
beside the hearth. Though you had no home, I would
rather
follow you through ice and snow than rest upon the
softest
pillow in the warmest home in all the land, for you are
my
master and I am your devoted worshiper.
Keep my
pan filled with fresh water, for although I cannot
reproach you
were it dry, I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.
Feed me
clean food, that I may well, to romp and play and do
your
bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing
and able
to protect you with my life should your life be in
danger.
And,
beloved master, should the Lord see fit to deprive me of
my
health or sight, do not turn me away from you. Rather hold
me gently in your arms as skilled hands grant me the merciful
boon of eternal rest....and I shall leave you knowing the last
breath I drew, my fate was ever safest in your hands.
